About Aletheia House – Women’s Hope
Aletheia House Women’s Hope in Birmingham, Alabama, is a residential program for pregnant women and women with children. This location is part of Aletheia House, which provides low-cost addiction services in Alabama. They’ve been around since 1972 and give community members access to employment services, housing, health care and substance use prevention and treatment. Women’s Hope is just one of several residential substance use treatment programs they offer.
Women’s Hope allows women to keep their children with them while they get intensive addiction treatment. Children who aren’t school aged will attend child care during the times the mother is in treatment. School aged children will attend school in the area.
Residential treatment includes meals, basic amenities and access to recovery programming. This could include group and individual counseling as well as parenting education.
Women’s Hope offers medication assisted treatment (MAT). This is an effective way to treat opioid or alcohol addiction. Clients are prescribed medications that block the effects of opioids. As you stabilize, your dose may be decreased.
Before you leave, staff will help you create an aftercare plan to support your ongoing recovery and healing. This may include referrals for peer support groups like AA or NA or outpatient treatment.
