About Teen Challenge House of Promise
The Teen Challenge House of Promise in Olathe, Colorado, is a residential program that offers women a way to overcome substance abuse through faith, accountability and self improvement. The program is open to women of all backgrounds, including mothers with young children and offers a home like environment where recovery extends to the family unit.
Spirituality and Treatment
Spiritual growth is a key component of the program. Participants spend their time in Bible study, mentorship and daily devotionals in order to find their sense of direction and inner strength in recovery.
Individual and group therapy, trauma informed counselling and life skills training are all part of the process to help women become more independent. Women learn how to set boundaries, regain their self esteem and how to stay sober for the long haul through daily schedules and the direction of pastoral counselors.
Mothers and Their Children
For mothers, the ability to stay with their children during treatment is a key part of the healing process. This program enables women to still look after their children whilst they get the help they require. This special way of handling the patients is effective in enhancing the mother child relationship as well as the effects of addiction to the family.
It also includes the family in the process. Family counseling and educational materials can assist relatives to identify addiction, prevent enabling and establish necessary boundaries. Faith based counseling helps to calm the anxiety that many parents have, to convince them that their child can be helped and that he or she will be fine.
