About BARC Broward Addiction Recovery Center Stephen R Booher Center

The Broward Addiction Recovery Center (BARC) treats substance abuse for adults 18 and older in Coral Springs, Florida. The Stephen Booher Center provides residential care but they may refer you to one of their outpatient locations if you need more flexible care.

Residential treatment is appropriate for those who need a structured environment to focus on healing without outside distractions. Most people remain in the program for 60 days depending on the needs of the individual.

During the first phase of care, you’ll start the stabilization process. You’ll develop healthier coping skills that address life stressors, recognize substance triggers and learn how to manage cravings. You may attend individual and group counseling to work on uncovering the root causes of your substance use and develop relapse prevention methods to use after treatment. They provide community connections with resources and tools to enhance your recovery efforts.

The second phase includes attending 12-step meetings, like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). These meetings can help you become more accountable for your sobriety. They also allow you to create a supportive community to reduce the feelings of isolation that often come with addiction issues.

Your relapse prevention skills play a crucial role during both phases. They place a heavy emphasis on these to increase long-term sobriety management. They encourage family involvement and have intensive services for loved ones. This program involves counseling, interactive exercises, and interventions, which may help mend relationships affected by substance use.

The program includes job readiness skills to prepare you for more stability after treatment. You’ll attend job fairs, workshops, and interviews. Case managers will help refer you to outside agencies or additional resources as needed.
